Reorganize Time...

Besides losing weight getting organized is the most popular New Years resolution. And let's face it we could all use a little help in this department.

While hunting for the best ways to organize my closet I have to admit just reading the posts made me tired.
Each blog kept telling me to empty out everything in my closet and start from scratch except this blog which I  found the most helpful.

Another tip which seemed a little corny but actually helped me get into more of an organized mood was sketching out my closet space. The Creativity Exchange has this handy little worksheet that includes a place to sketch out your space along with some great questions!

Throughout my digging I discovered most people of expertise tell you to organize your closet one of three ways:
1. By color- making your closet fun to look at and hopefully will inspire you to keep it that way.

2. By style- meaning all dresses together, all tops together etc in hopes of making your clothing more shoppable each morning.

3. Or finally a few blogs said to sort your clothing by activity for example: all workout gear together, all dressy clothes together and so on and so fourth. Does anyone else think that one sounds weird?

My closet currently is organized by style and I think I'm going to go for color this go round just to spice things up. How do you ladies organize your closets? I'd love to know!!  Here's to hoping my closet gets the pick me up I'm looking for!

Creating Joy

January is always kind of a blah month for me. I think it's mostly because I'm sick of passing up all the dresses in my closet and reaching for the same 5 sweaters. Anyone Else? The other day I had a bad case of the blah's (you know what I mean) so I decided to think about what brings me joy. These are the things I came up with (Don't laugh!) : Bicycles, creating things and/or creative people, decorating, and friends. Cheesy, I know but nonetheless totally true.

I decided I'd take this random list of things and filter it into a trip to Michaels. The first task combines two of my joys: bicycles and creating things. I bought these four paints, some paint brushes and a canvas and painted this bicycle. It's not great but it did stir up some true joy while creating it.

The next task involved decorating. After spending months looking for the perfect desk to re-purpose I decided to just pull the trigger on one that I didn't have to paint and found this little corner desk. It's not super wild but I'm excited to put some beautiful things on/around it and make the perfect getting ready space.

Friends was the last item on the "joy list" and since I couldn't throw a rager with all my besties on a random Tuesday night I decided to look back on a recent great time with great friends: My friend Lauren's Pinterest explosion wedding- tell me those pics don't bring you some sort of joy!!

There you have it folks. My joy project completed-
Here's to having a joyful day!

So sick of my makeup!

So do you ever get tired of your look or the way you do your makeup the same every day? I do!

Pinterest has allowed me to dream about fun makeup ideas, but do I ever get around to doing them? No!

So it's a New Year and I'm making time for all the things that I have been wanting to improve on. Yesterday I was telling your about my workouts (here) and today is about beauty.

There are tons of Vloggers out there with beauty channels on You Tube but over this past year I have found some of my favorites. :) I'm currently obsessed with the idea of contouring your face using blush, bronzer, concealer, and highlighter. I first saw this on Pinterest when they showed how Kim Kardashian does her makeup to make her face appear more contoured and slim. I love this girl's board. It's called Beneath the Makeup.

The picture above kinda tells you what she does, but I found this video (below) by Cara at Maskcara.
She is incredible and shows you step-by-step how to do your own contour makeup and what goes where.

This is my attempt at it. I'll need to take a picture of before, but I think it really works and I'm really fascinated by how you contour your nose to look different. I don't dislike my nose but it's cool to see an obvious change.

Her blog is awesome! She has tutorials on make-up and hair. One of my favorites is when she makes-up her mom. Check out the before and after! Beautiful!

My next Favorite for make-up tutorials is Tanya Burr and her amazing You Tube Channel.
Have you heard of this girl? She used to work at a department store makeup counter in London and would create celebrity-inspired tutorial videos on the side. Now she has such a following that she is able to just do youtube videos. It's amazing to watch her morph into various celebrities using only makeup.

Here are my top 3 favorite videos.
