Beautiful Movies for a Rainy Day

Don't rainy days make you just want to cozy up on the couch and watch a good movie? I would love to know how much goes into making a movie the costumes, the sets, and the extras!

Is anyone inspired by movies they have seen? I am constantly. Here are some of my favorites!
Marie Antoinette
One of my most favorite movies is Marie Antoinette with Kristen Dunst. Have you seen this Movie. The costumes, scenery, and the desserts they are all so fabulous. Sophia Coppola really knows how to produce a movie.

Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events

For some reason when i first watch this movie the scenery just really captivated me. I'm sure they used a green screen for most of it but still the imagination that went into creating this movie. It's dark and mystical.

I just saw the preview for  OZ The Great and Powerful the costumes and the sets are so inspiring. Such vibrant colors.

Reorganize Time...

Besides losing weight getting organized is the most popular New Years resolution. And let's face it we could all use a little help in this department.

While hunting for the best ways to organize my closet I have to admit just reading the posts made me tired.
Each blog kept telling me to empty out everything in my closet and start from scratch except this blog which I  found the most helpful.

Another tip which seemed a little corny but actually helped me get into more of an organized mood was sketching out my closet space. The Creativity Exchange has this handy little worksheet that includes a place to sketch out your space along with some great questions!

Throughout my digging I discovered most people of expertise tell you to organize your closet one of three ways:
1. By color- making your closet fun to look at and hopefully will inspire you to keep it that way.

2. By style- meaning all dresses together, all tops together etc in hopes of making your clothing more shoppable each morning.

3. Or finally a few blogs said to sort your clothing by activity for example: all workout gear together, all dressy clothes together and so on and so fourth. Does anyone else think that one sounds weird?

My closet currently is organized by style and I think I'm going to go for color this go round just to spice things up. How do you ladies organize your closets? I'd love to know!!  Here's to hoping my closet gets the pick me up I'm looking for!

The five pairs of shoes you need in your closet...

First off if you don't have a pair of nude heels by now you are behind and need to run not walk to your nearest shoe store and get two or three pairs to make up for your tardiness...Ok not really but they are that big of a must have! They make your legs look so much longer and who wouldn't want to have legs for days like this girl?

you can find gems like these just about anywhere now but I've found Target and Nine West have the best deals and last the longest.

Unlike the nude heel the next shoe is more of a fun must have than an essential staple. I think every woman should have a fun printed flat in their closet? Why? Because it's always fun to style an outfit around a pair of shoes like the ones below and you are bound to get compliments if you pull it off correctly.

We all knew boots would be on this list but I have a few pointers for you before you purchase your next pair of riding boots! Tip number one: get a pair that is a little loose on your calves and tip number two: get a pair with a little bit of a heel of wedge. Both of these tips will help your legs look skinnier and longer especially in the
winter when you aren't feeling your skinniest. These are some of my favorite styles.

Going along the boot theme every woman needs a cute pair of rain boots. We like Hunters Boots mostly because of all of the cute boot sock options!

To complete the perfect shoe collection every lady should have a nice wedge. I like rocking my wedges with jeans and blouses pretty much every other day! Is there any other shoe you think is a must have? Let us know!

Choosing the best color for your skin tone.

Besides the cut of your clothing color may be the most important element of choosing the best pieces to have in your wardrobe. After doing some research we narrowed the thousands of tips we found to just a few simple steps.

Step 1. Start with a clean face and your hair pulled back.
Step 2. Find a pure white towel or any other white material you can get your hands on and wrap it around your face.
Step 3. Here's the fun part- With the towel wrapped around your face like a crazy person take a look in the mirror. Besides a beauty you should see either shades like grey, pink, blue,or violet if so you have cool undertones. If you see shades of gold, green, yellow, or taupe you my friend have warm undertones.

Now that you know what undertones you have we wanted to show you some examples. We gathered a few celebrity pictures from people.com and compared both shades.

Here are some leading ladies with cool undertones.

For cool undertones try wearing jewel tones like these:

Here are a few people you might know with warm tones.

For ladies with warm undertones try neutral shades like these:

Creating Joy

January is always kind of a blah month for me. I think it's mostly because I'm sick of passing up all the dresses in my closet and reaching for the same 5 sweaters. Anyone Else? The other day I had a bad case of the blah's (you know what I mean) so I decided to think about what brings me joy. These are the things I came up with (Don't laugh!) : Bicycles, creating things and/or creative people, decorating, and friends. Cheesy, I know but nonetheless totally true.

I decided I'd take this random list of things and filter it into a trip to Michaels. The first task combines two of my joys: bicycles and creating things. I bought these four paints, some paint brushes and a canvas and painted this bicycle. It's not great but it did stir up some true joy while creating it.

The next task involved decorating. After spending months looking for the perfect desk to re-purpose I decided to just pull the trigger on one that I didn't have to paint and found this little corner desk. It's not super wild but I'm excited to put some beautiful things on/around it and make the perfect getting ready space.

Friends was the last item on the "joy list" and since I couldn't throw a rager with all my besties on a random Tuesday night I decided to look back on a recent great time with great friends: My friend Lauren's Pinterest explosion wedding- tell me those pics don't bring you some sort of joy!!

There you have it folks. My joy project completed-
Here's to having a joyful day!

BOX it up!

Well, January brings the snow, the cold, and the quietness. A lot of people did some major shopping in December and now January is the quiet after the storm. Here at Rosewood we are always shopping for the next season and getting ready for spring and summer. Is there anything you are wanting to see at Rosewood this season?

On our search for sweeter things to have a Rosewood, we kinda got captivated with these boxes that come to your door with goodies. Have you heard of Birch Box, Olive Box, or Sprig?

Birchbox

Birchbox is for all those makeup lovers out there that love to try new makeup lotions, blush, and lip gloss, but don't' want to spend a fortune. You pay $10 a month and get this lovely box to your door.

I loved the idea of getting stationary, washi tape, and other fun stationary things to your door! I first saw this on one of my favorite blogs, Decor 8. I am inspired constantly by Holly and everything she has to offer on her blog. This box is $25 per month. I can't wait to get my first one in the mail! Who doesn't love stationary goodies packaging!!

Sprig

I don't know about you but we are trying to eat healthier these days. Like going gluten free, no GMOs, no hydrogenated oils, etc., and it gets super hard to find good healthy snacks. These are all gluten free which is pretty awesome. I just came across this service that sends you 8-10 snacks in the mail once a month. The cost to you is $26.95

Our goal this year is to try all of them and see what you really get in these goody-boxes that arrive at your door when you least expect it!

Can't wait! Stay tuned to find out what's inside of all of these!

So sick of my makeup!

So do you ever get tired of your look or the way you do your makeup the same every day? I do!

Pinterest has allowed me to dream about fun makeup ideas, but do I ever get around to doing them? No!

So it's a New Year and I'm making time for all the things that I have been wanting to improve on. Yesterday I was telling your about my workouts (here) and today is about beauty.

There are tons of Vloggers out there with beauty channels on You Tube but over this past year I have found some of my favorites. :) I'm currently obsessed with the idea of contouring your face using blush, bronzer, concealer, and highlighter. I first saw this on Pinterest when they showed how Kim Kardashian does her makeup to make her face appear more contoured and slim. I love this girl's board. It's called Beneath the Makeup.

The picture above kinda tells you what she does, but I found this video (below) by Cara at Maskcara.
She is incredible and shows you step-by-step how to do your own contour makeup and what goes where.

This is my attempt at it. I'll need to take a picture of before, but I think it really works and I'm really fascinated by how you contour your nose to look different. I don't dislike my nose but it's cool to see an obvious change.

Her blog is awesome! She has tutorials on make-up and hair. One of my favorites is when she makes-up her mom. Check out the before and after! Beautiful!

My next Favorite for make-up tutorials is Tanya Burr and her amazing You Tube Channel.
Have you heard of this girl? She used to work at a department store makeup counter in London and would create celebrity-inspired tutorial videos on the side. Now she has such a following that she is able to just do youtube videos. It's amazing to watch her morph into various celebrities using only makeup.

Here are my top 3 favorite videos.

Getting Fit in the New Year

Somehow getting in shape is always a popular resolution for the new year. The year changes, and like clockwork everyone whips into resolution awareness.

Well, I felt this way between Thanksgiving and Christmas. All those yummy holiday foods were just getting my body down. Luckily I found these great video workouts that truly only take 10 minutes to do and make your body hurt-so-good the next day.

My exercise gurus are Joe and Anthony from Hybrid Athlete.  You can get free downloads for workouts, videos and eating plans that will keep you wanting more. The cool thing about these brothers is that they are local. They used to have a Crossfit gym in Moon, and soon enough they grew into bigger and better things!
These guys are making moves all over so check them out on facebook and check out their website.

Recently, I have fallen in love with these two girls Katrina and Karena who run the blog Tone It Up. I found them on Livestrong You Tube Channel (aside from the whole Lance thing, an excellent resource) and then started to follow their blog. They have some awesome video workouts that are 8-10 minutes long. These are some of my favorites.

Three things I love about Tone it Up:
1. They show you how to do every move.
2. They make you feel like you are taking a class
3. They have great resources and tons of videos to choose from so you will never get bored.

Fine Toning Arm Routine
- I do this one almost 3 times a week it's the perfect morning arm workout when you have 10 minutes to spare.
Love Your Body
(Entire Body
)
- This workout will kick your entire body's butt. It will feel pretty easy until you go to bed that evening and realize you're sore already.

- In this routine, they give you 5 different workouts. After 3 sets and 20 minutes it will be well worth it!

The last workout I've checked out and done recently is on the KozakSportsPerform You Tube Channel.
The guy cracks me up who does the talking but this 7 minute plank workout kicked my butt!

Your won't regret trying any of these workout out!

I think I'm ready for swimsuit season to come early this year!

~Tomorrow we are going to talk about makeup tips for the new year!~
